Newsletter

I have takent the newsletter and posted it up on our server. [Newsletter Link]

Guild Site Plans

I will beginw working on a screenshot and videos section. Screenshots will be hosted on this server and everything, I will make a nice AJAX based system for them too. Videos will also be ajaxified but due to hosting limitations, they will have to be hosted with third-party sites. Be it veoh, youtube, or something else (ill look into which is the best quality) and make a system that pulls the videos from there into your video uploads.

I have a few other things planned but need to see if I can pull them off first. And That is all for now. Enjoy the great news =).

Official WAR System Requirements by Daegalus on July 30, 2008

Finally, something to use as a base. The official system requirements are now posted on the war herald. Enjoy!

------------------------

The wait is over!

We're pleased to announce the current minimum system requirements to run WAR at launch.

We will continue to optimize WAR as we move closer to launch and even beyond but these will provide you with a very accurate idea of what is needed in order to play the game.

So without further adieu the minimum specs for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning:

PC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

For Windows XP

·  2.5 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
·  1 Gigabyte RAM
·  A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
·  At least 15 GB of hard drive space

For Windows VISTA

·  2.5 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
·  2 Gigabyte RAM
·  A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
·  At least 15 GB of hard drive space

Supported Video Cards

ATI Radeon(TM) series

·  9500, 9600, 9800
·  X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
·  X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
·  2400, 2600, 2900,
·  3650, 3850, 3870
·  4850, 4870

NVIDIA GeForce series

·  FX 5900, FX 5950
·  6600, 6800,
·  7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
·  8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
·  9400, 9500, 9600, 9800
·  GTX 260, GTX 280

Intel(R) Extreme Graphics

·  GMA X4500

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slowly. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly. Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should run satisfactorily.

Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn’t listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or cause the game to not run at all.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

Fully Operational by Daegalus on April 26, 2008

With the extra free time I had this weekend, I have managed to finish up the rest of the site and can now officially announce that the website is fully functional and ready for use. Here is what the site has to offer at the moment:

Shoutbox: Simple implementation of a shoutbox linked to the forum user system. Lets anyone thats a member of the forums post, and anyone else to read it.

Article System: This is the big feature that took the longest. Allows for any Guild Member (anyone part of the forum group "Guild Members") to post articles, strategy guides, and anything they see fit to use it for. Use it wisely. Now, only hte person that posted the article may edit or delete it, apart from the admins. It is fully automated, and fully user friendly. I even put in TinyMCE WYSIWYG editor to the textbox for you to put in high quality posting without needing to know HTML. You got a full formatting, with the ability to put images into the box, and lots of other goodies. So enjoy :).

Quote Database: This is just a fun feature. It lets you put quotes of things guildies have said on vent, or on the forums for future reminiscense.

phpBB3 Integration: I have linked all the backend to the phpBB3 permission and user system, which allows for one login on the entire site, and less work for me, since we can use the highly secure and powerful system made by a much more knowledgeable team than me. So it has a lot of pros and almost no cons.

There are also a few features I plan to implement in the future to make the site even more useful:

  • RSS Feed System: This will allow you to put in the RSS feeds of many news and Warhammer sites into the page, and it will keep you up to date of new news from these sites or other information.
  • Calendar System: This will be linked to the Warhammer In-Game Guild Calendar, so that people that can't get on WAR for a few days or were busy can stay up to date on things without having to be in-game. It will also be used for if you have to leave for a certain amount of time for vacation or RL things, you can put them in the calendar and let the guild know. It will work a lot like a simpler Outlook Calendar, or Google Calendar.

I will probably think of more as times goes by, but for now this is what I have planned. Hopefully we can make our guild site a one stop portal to everything Warhammer and everything about the guild. I think we might even be ready to begin our recruitment campaign to get more members into the guild, you never know :P. Enjoy.
